Contra Cargo Cult Modernists

So I have just one wish for you — the good luck to be somewhere where you are free to maintain the kind of integrity I have described, and where you do not feel forced by a need to maintain your position in the organization, or financial support, or so on, to lose your integrity. May you have that freedom. —Richard Feynman, 1974

For as long as I have been aware of the issue of truth vs lies, evidence vs faith, I have held adherence to facts to be my True North. Why do I not work in advertisement or corporate sales? I am not a liar, nor do I suffer such. Why do I rub cargo-cult managers (spit!) the wrong way? I don't confuse cause with effect (nor with correlation), and I can't pretend to admire these people when they spread their confusion like rotting jam on stale bread.
